Bensedin (Diazepam Tablets) 10mg is a controlled substance drug that’s available as the brand-name drug Bensedin. It’s also available as a generic drug. Generic drugs usually cost less. In some cases, they may not be available in every strength or form as a brand-name version.
Bensedin is also available as an oral solution, an intravenous injection, a liquid nasal spray, and a rectal gel.
How to use Bensedin
Read the medication guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking Bensedin and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication by mouth with or without food, as directed by your doctor. If you are using the liquid form of this medication, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device or spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.
Bensedin side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Bensedin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- severe drowsiness or dizziness;
- unusual changes in mood or behavior;
- new or worsening symptoms of depression or anxiety;
- thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
- confusion, hallucinations, sleep problems; or
- new or worsening seizures.
The sedative effects of Bensedin may last longer in older adults. Accidental falls are common in elderly patients who take benzodiazepines. Use caution to avoid falling or an accidental injury while taking this medicine.
